ACACIA SWIMWEAR is working to raise money and awareness for a family health and childbirth clinic in Bali, Indonesia. We are reaching out to you for help for Bumi Sehat, a project that began in Bali which is quite amazing. They have over 50 staff members in Bali, where about 700 babies are born each year, and over 1000 patients are helped monthly. The Bumi Tsunami Relief clinic in Aceh, is run by a medical team of 19. They also see 1000 patients per month, and deliver about 150 babies per year in the area of Aceh. Being close to the epicenter of the earthquake-tsunami, 80% of the women and children died, so they have fewer births and more generally sick patients. Their biggest worry now is operation funds, desperately needing help. In Indonesia, if one cannot pay the hospital bill, they cannot take their baby home! The hospital holds the baby until the parents can pay, which is expensive compared to Indonesians salaries. Bumi Sehat is a place poor families, even prostitutes and beggars can come, and know that no one will hold their baby hostage.
Bumi Sehat gives kind, clean and culturally appropriate health care to families from all islands, of all faiths. Because of the quality of care at Bumi Sehat people from other islands, and all over the world go to them for help, but the poorest of the poor get the same gentle service.
